Mindful Binge Series Review: Netflix's One Day

As a wellness coach, I often embrace the occasional indulgence in feel-good shows to unwind and rejuvenate from life's pressures. These series offer an escape where the world seems harmonious agna welcome relief amidst chaos. My choices range from heartwarming makeover dramas like Queer Eye to luxurious home organization shows such as Home Edit, both providing a satisfying sense of luxury and minimalism respectively.

But occasionally, my binge-watch desires take me towards more poignant narrativeslike the captivating romantic series, One Day. This Netflix original, with its 14 episodes, weaves through the life of Dexter and Emma who meet at their graduation dance, embarking on a journey where they are forever intertwined despite time and circumstance conspiring agnst them.

The storyline is masterfully told through the lens of alcoholism as it becomes an omnipresent theme. The series reveals how this substance influences their lives and relationships, with each episode serving as a snapshot in their tumultuous journey together.

Several themes struck me deeply that my personal experienceslike the nostalgia for the good old days, where love was simpler and more innocenta time when your first kiss and lost virginity were done soberly. Reflecting on this, I can't help but wonder if the choices we make in our youth, often influenced by alcohol, shape our future decisions.

One theme that particularly caught my attention was the normalization of substance use among young adults during their formative years. This period see be a flashpoint for manysome may experience it as an intense partying phase that lasts through summer or even years; for others like Dexter and myself, it can become decades long.

This series poignantly illustrates how easily individuals can fall into old habits when faced with adversity, regardless of whether they are seeking solace in alcohol. It's a stark reminder that while our experiences define us, we have the power to rise above them and choose healthier paths forward.

The Mindful Binge Sobees Score: 4 out of 5

The journey through One Day has been as thought-provoking as it is emotional. It invites viewers to reflect on their own pasts while acknowledging that each individual's path towards healing and self-discovery is unique. The series serves not only as an entertning watch but also prompts introspection about life choices, relationships, and personal growth.
